The Growler List

So I've never seen the 2007 movie The Bucket List but I get the idea. A bucket list is a list of things you want to do before you die. Whenever I think about things that I want to do before I die it always includes beer related things. Calling it a bucket list just doesn't do it justice so I think I'm going to call it the Growler List. The Growler List is a list of beer related things you want to do before you die. I've put together some of my list. Here are ten things that I came up with. There is no real order. I just threw them down on paper. So here ya go:

The Beer Buddha's Growler List:

- Go to the Great American Beer Festival
- Visit Westvleteren Abbey
- Drink beer at Brickstore Pub
- Visit what is probably my favorite brewery Stone Brewing Company
- Drink a Maui Brewing Company CoCoNut Porter on the beach in Maui.
- Go to the Great British Beer Festival
- Take a beer tour through Europe
- Take a beer tour through America
- Meet Greg Koch
- Meet Garrett Oliver

There is obviously room for more but this is what I have so far. It's a work in progress. So what's on your Growler List? I'd love to hear it.

Cheers!

I've been lucky enough to do the Maui Brewing one, as well as visit their brewery. Definitely a must-do.

For a while, I thought I was going to get to scratch an item off my growler list in Feb, but UPS broke the growler of PtYounger my friend was shipping to me.

I hear that the homebrew convention beets out all other American beer fests. Of course I hear that from homebrewers. That may be on my list.

The GABF is a fantastic event and tops for me. I have visited most of my Must see breweries in the US. I would love to do a tour through England, or at least go Pub Crawling through the English countryside.

Forgot to add, the AHA (homebrewers) festival ranks right there with the GABF and yes, I am a homebrewer. Next year it is in San Diego, home of Stone Brewing.

Great topic. The only one on your list I've done is drink at The Brickstore Pub... 2 nights in a row actually. Great place and definitely list worthy.

GABF and Stone tour are also on my list, as well as a beer tour through Europe.

Here's my adds:

1. Oktoberfest in Munich
2. Dublin pub crawl
3. Drink a Trappist beer at one of the monasteries with the Monks

I have been lucky enough to do numbers 1, 4, 9, and 10. However, I enjoy the World Beer Cup over the GABF, which is every other year and it rotates cities in which it is held.

On my list, is the travel to Belgium and visit as many breweries as possible!

In case you wanted some help on your "Growler List", Garrett Oliver is coming to South Florida for a meet and greet in August. I plan on attending. You can find it on Beer Advocate in the events area under Florida.

Good Luck with your list!

Thanks Chalie,

He will be here in New Orleans for Tales of The Cocktail and will be doing a Meet the Brewer and a beer dinner so I'll get to strike that one off my list!

Cheers!

Can't wait to try the new Bottletree Blonde - have heard al ot about this beer in SC and it is now at The Avenue Pub ! They say this blonde is interesting in that there is noble hop aroma and balanced flavor, but finishes dry with a subtle tartness that lends a very refreshing taste to it.

labouteille,

I have had the Bottle Tree Blonde and thought it was a good beer. We'll be bringing it in over at Cork & Bottle in Mid City. If I were a betting man I'd say you either work for the brewery or the distributor! Which one is it? ;)

Cheers!

La Bouteille,

Apparently I'm not to smart on the uptake. One quick click on your name takes me to your website. Beautiful store and selection by the way!
